Anti-flood float in the base pan had tripped on water from a slow supply-line weep. Leak traced and fixed, base pan dried, float reset and the fault cleared. Custom panel removed and refitted without disturbing the surrounding millwork.

Danville is supplied from EBMUD’s Walnut Creek treatment plant, the same plant that serves Alamo, Walnut Creek, Lafayette and Pleasant Hill. Its published hardness is 1 grain per gallon, about 15 to 21 ppm as calcium carbonate — very soft water. So the standard line about limescale wrecking your ice maker and dishwasher does not apply here, and a quote built around descaling deserves a question about what was measured. Worth noting if you are comparing advice with friends further east: Concord, Antioch and parts of Martinez are on Contra Costa Water District rather than EBMUD, and their water is considerably harder. Advice that is sound in Antioch is not automatically sound here.
