Why Dacor Appliances Need a Specialist
Dacor has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics America since 2016, and that is not trivia — it is where the parts and the documentation come from. Every Dacor manual is hosted on Samsung's own content servers, the service email is a Samsung address, and the fault codes on the current ranges name the same board architecture Samsung uses: Main PBA, Sub PBA, Touch. Knowing that shortens a diagnosis considerably.
Dacor calls its fault codes information codes, and the current steam ranges publish a real table. Two of them are communication faults rather than component failures — one between the Main and Sub boards, one between Main and Touch — which means the answer can be a harness or a connector rather than a board. That distinction is worth money, and it is the kind of thing that gets missed when a code is read as a part number.
The other Dacor-specific point is physical. The manuals state plainly that a range needs two or more people to move because of its size and weight, and that the leveling legs must never be completely removed or the range will no longer be properly secured to its anti-tip device. So the legs are part of the anti-tip retention path, not just a height adjustment, and the anti-tip has to be re-verified every time the range comes out. On a 48-inch dual-fuel steam range that is the whole first half of the job.

Common Dacor Problems We Fix
Dacor publishes information codes for the ranges, the ovens and the dishwashers, and the codes are specific enough to be useful. These are the ones we see.
Door lock mispositioned
Its own code on the ranges and ovens. Usually the lock motor or the switch rather than the door, and it is the commonest reason an oven refuses to run after a self-clean cycle.
Board communication interrupted
Two separate codes: Main to Sub board, and Main to Touch. Both are communication faults, which means a connector or a harness is as likely as a board. We check the run before quoting a PBA.
Oven sensor open or short
A clean, specific code. We measure the sensor against specification at a known cavity temperature rather than replacing it on the strength of the code alone.
Internal temperature unusually high
Dacor's own remedy is to restart the appliance, which tells you it is a protective trip rather than a failure. If it recurs, the cooling path or the cabinet ventilation is the thing to look at.
Control board temperature unusually high
A different code from the cavity one, and here Dacor says call for service. On a built-in installation a blocked cabinet vent path is a real cause and not a fault in the appliance.
Steam sensor open or short
Specific to the steam ranges and steam ovens. The sensor is measured, and the water path and boiler checked for scale while we are in there.
Problem with the drain system
On a steam range the drain has to clear, and in this area scale in the boiler and the drain route is a recurring factor rather than an occasional one.
Cooling motor fault
Dacor routes this straight to service. The cooling fan protects the electronics, so a failed one takes the touch panel and the board with it if it is left.
Dishwasher leakage check
A leak-detection trip. It is a protective system, so the job is finding the water rather than clearing the code.
Dishwasher water supply or drain check
Two separate codes. Supply covers a closed valve, a kinked hose and low pressure; drain covers the filter, the pump and the disposal knockout.
Dishwasher heating or pump check
High-temperature heating and pump operation each have their own code, plus a low-water-level check. Between them they cover most of what stops a cycle.
Anti-tip device not re-engaged
Not a code, but the thing we check on every range that has been moved. Dacor is explicit that the leveling legs are part of the anti-tip retention path and must not be removed.
Dacor Error Codes and What They Mean
Dacor calls these information codes, and publishes different sets for cooking and for dishwashing. Below is what its own manuals state, in our words.
The useful thing about this set is how much of it is specific. Two codes name a communication path rather than a component, one names a protective trip with a restart as the remedy, and several name a single sensor. That is a table you can work from.

Dacor Parts and Availability
Dacor's parts channel runs through Samsung, and Dacor operates a dedicated parts store that it points both owners and, in its own words, unaffiliated repair businesses toward for parts, tools and documentation. That is unusually open for a premium brand and it is genuinely good news for anyone who owns one, because it means an independent workshop can get the right part rather than an approximation.
Where it matters most is the boards. The communication codes on these ranges name Main PBA, Sub PBA and Touch, and those are Samsung-architecture boards; a substitute is not a realistic option. The same goes for the steam sensors on the steam ranges, where a sensor with a different curve gives an oven that steams badly with a clean code.
Dacor's manual also limits what an owner should do: nothing beyond what the manual specifically recommends, with everything else left to a qualified technician. We think that is the right line on a 48-inch dual-fuel range with a gas connection and an anti-tip requirement. Common parts — sensors, lock motors, cooling fans, igniters, drain pumps, inlet valves, door seals — are ordered against the model number, with availability confirmed from your kitchen before you agree to anything.

If the range has to come forward, that is planned as a two-person job with the cabinetry protected, and the anti-tip device is re-verified before we leave. The leveling legs stay in place throughout, because Dacor's documentation is explicit that removing them defeats the anti-tip.

Dacor Repair FAQ
My Dacor range shows C-F0. Does that mean a new board?
Not necessarily, and this is the most useful thing to know about Dacor codes. C-F0 means communication between the Main and Sub boards was interrupted — it names a path, not a failed component. A connector that has worked loose or a chafed harness produces exactly that code. We check the run end to end before quoting a board, because the difference in price is substantial.
The oven showed C-21 and then worked again after I switched it off. Is something wrong?
C-21 means the internal temperature went unusually high, and Dacor's own listed remedy is simply to restart the appliance — so it is a protective trip rather than a failure. Once is not a concern. If it keeps happening, the thing to look at is the cooling path and whether the cabinet is letting the oven vent properly, which on a built-in is often the actual problem.
Is Dacor the same as Samsung now?
Dacor has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics America since 2016, yes. My dishwasher is showing 5C. What is that?
A drain check. Dacor's dishwashers use letter-number codes rather than the C-codes on the cooking products, which is why the model prefix matters when you call. We work through the filter, the sump, the drain pump and the disposal knockout in that order, because several of those are plumbing rather than appliance faults and none of them needs a part.
Has Dacor had any safety recalls I should know about?
We searched the full CPSC recall dataset for Dacor household appliances and found none. There is one unrelated Dacor-branded recall from 2005 covering scuba diving computers, which is a different company using the same name. We check the recall position on every brand we work on, because a factory repair is free and you should not be paying us for one.
